I write to share some experienced that I thought may be of interest to members of this group.

During my visit to Amsterdam last summer, I took a walk through the Amsterdam Floating Flower Market. I learned that this is the only floating flower market in the world, and one of the most fragrant places of interest of Amsterdam. The flower stalls stand on the houseboats.  It is also one of the biggest Flower market in Holland and is definitely worth taking a look. The market is unique, because all the merchandise is displayed on floating barges. This is a relic from the days when the flowers and plants sold at this market were shipped in by barges. Nowadays fresh flowers are still brought in every day; by vans, however, and no longer by boat. The market stalls still rest on barges, but they are permanently anchored here.

Amsterdam's floating flower market is open all year long so locals and visitors can take advantage of a wide array of colorful plants no matter what the season. The floating flower market is located at the Singel Canal, one of the oldest canals in Amsterdam. This unusual flower market is the most famous in Holland and was first held in 1862. It has since developed into the best-known flower market of Holland. Whatever your favorite flower is, you are bound to find it here. Merchandise ranges from the traditional Dutch tulips and geraniums to indoor cypresses and plants. You will find here all sorts of tulips, narcissus and other bulbs and flowers. Prices are quite reasonable and the bulbs are ready for export. So you can take home a few tulip bulbs and plant it in your garden when you return from your trip to Amsterdam. Along this part of the Singel canal you’ll also find a lot of souvenirs shops.
